Paper manufacturing plant
The first paper manufacturing plant in Islam was opened at Baghdad in 794 by al-Fadl,
the son of caliph Harun ar Rashids minister. The Muslims took this craft to
Sicily and Spain and then passed into Italy and France. This facilitated the
making of books wherever it went. In 891 Baghdad had over a hundred bookstores.
