Sura
al-i-Imraan 3: Verse 190/191

"Behold in the creation of the heavens and the earth And the
alternation Of Night and Day, -There are indeed Signs For men of
understanding, - Men who celebrate The praises of God, standing, sitting and
lying down on their sides and contemplate The (wonders of) creation, In the
heavens and the earth
(With the thought) ' Our
Allah! Not for nought has Thou created all this' Glory to Thee, give us
salvation from the penalty of the fire. "
ATTACK ON OUR FAITH
In
this modern materialistic age of doubt, there is an attack on the belief system (Aqaid)
of Islam. Important aspects of our faith that have spiritual implications
are being attacked as well as the cultural and emotional aspect, which is an
integral aspect of the true Islamic creed. The external secular attack wants to
make us godless and the internal religious attack, cleverly engineered by those
who realise the power of a dynamic vibrant Islam, wants to make us devoid of
love for our master and leader the Holy Prophet (sallallahu alaihi wa sallam)
and his true heirs i.e., the ‘Intimates of Allah’ (Aulia).
In
order to counter this attack we need an effective defence strategy on three
levels:
1.
A scientific and logical study and presentation of Islam, so that
calls on the door of intellect and the attack on the intellectual level may be
answered.
2.
A systematic and analytical study of Islam has to be undertaken
and presented so that we may have easy access to solutions and problems in the
light of Qur'aan and the ‘Practical example of the Holy Prophet (sallallahu
alaihi wa sallam)’ (Seerah).
3.
A Tasawwuf[1]
based spiritual study and presentation of Islam is vital to give people
emotional stability and sound experimental spirituality.
An example of the scientific, logical and Tasawwuf
based study presentation of Islam
Many
of us believe in and have experienced the ‘flow of spiritual blessings’ (faiz)[2]
from the Prophets and Awliya (friends of Allah). In this age of wanting to conceive the
inconceivable, the question of how is this possible is often asked. The Qur'aan
says, "In the signs of Allah in the universe are answers for many questions
of those who employ their intellect with Allah mobilized hearts”. One can
therefore apply ones knowledge of magnetism to understand this 'spiritual flow'.
E.g. the magnetic field around the earth extends about 80 000 km into space
whilst that of Jupiter is said to be 250 times more than that of the earth's.
The two points of the earth's magnetic flow are the north and south poles. The
magnetic needle of the compass is therefore affected by the poles and will
always point to the north. The stronger magnetic pull and flow from the north
makes the needle adopt a direction. The pole is thousands of miles away but it
has an effect on the compass needle. In the same way Allah has made his Beloved
Prophet (sallallahu alaihi wa sallam) the sole ‘Spiritual Pole’ from where
Allah’s blessings flow abundantly. He is the spiritual magnet of the universe
whose spiritual effect can be felt throughout the universe. The dispensers of
his blessings are his true heirs, the Aulia, who are connected to him
spiritually, due to their attachment of love and adherence to his teachings.
The Qur’aan says in Sura al-Ambiya 21: Verse 107

" O! Prophet (Sallallahu alai hi wa sallam) I have not sent you but
as a mercy to the universe.
The
flow of mercy and influence of the Holy Prophet (sallallahu alaihi wa sallam) is
therefore throughout the universe. He is also the illumination for the universe
because Allah calls him the ‘illuminating light’ or siraajam munira.
Just as an ordinary needle is not affected by the magnetic flow unless it is
treated and prepared with a degree of magnetism, the person who is not
spiritually charged and treated by one who is, i.e. a Murshid or
Spiritual Dispenser, will not feel the effect of the spiritual flow. The needle
of the heart has to be polished through Zikrullah[3]
and charged through contact with the charged heart of the Murshid (Raabita)[4],
to point to the green dome of Madinah the Illuminated. Holy Prophet
(sallallahu alaihi wa sallam) is the Spiritual or ruhaani magnet for the
entire creation. The acquisition of knowledge and Ta’alluq or
attachment has been commanded in the first revelation
Sura al-Alaq 96: Verse 1-2

Allah
has called man Insaan in the Arabic Language. We are His creation and,
undoubtedly He loves us, and wants us to love Him. There are two root words from
which the word Insaan can be derived.
The
word uns[5],
which we derive from anasa, means 'to love' or 'lover'. The other is nisian,[6]
which means 'to forget', or 'one who forgets'. Although, both loving and
forgetting seems to be opposite qualities, but man possesses both. The very
reason of existence is love and the outcome of love is forgetting. When love
reaches perfection, the lover forgets everything except the Beloved. He forgets
everything that takes him away from his beloved and loves everything that takes
him to his Beloved. Those beings are therefore worthy of being called Insaan
who love Allah and forget everything that takes them astray. Therefore it is
necessary to create an attachment with Allah and forget hatred, disobedience and
habits that take one away from Allah. Cultivate habits that the Beloved likes
and discard that which the Beloved dislikes.
It
has been in grained in the soul of man that he should love and the true servants
of Allah love the creation of the creator, hence they love all human beings.
From a spiritual aspect man has been created out of attachment

Created
man, as an attached mass
Therefore the very nature of man depends on attachment. The link of love
to Allah, the spiritual attachment, has to be actualised. Knowledge must be
attained on the physical level but must lead to the spiritual level. The word alaq
or 'a mass that clings and is attached to the mothers womb', which was only
discovered about a hundred years ago by embryologists was used by the Holy
Prophet (sallallahu alaihi wa sallam) 1400 years ago.[7]
The youth should be encouraged to study science and apply this knowledge on
Islamic realities. The word akram or 'the Abundant, Gift Giving Allah' is
the spiritual direction towards Allah's recognition or marifah.
The
magnet comes into existence through two methods
1. The contact method:
2. The electrical charge
method
The first method needs no great effort and endeavour; it only needs contact with a magnet. Similarly the connection to a Sufi silsila[8] through which spiritual blessings flow charges the one who establishes this connection. In order to become 'friend of Allah' the spiritual charge method is utilised within the connection. The electrical charge method is the long cut which is not always guaranteed to produce results, whilst the contact method is guaranteed because the charge exists in the circuit. The aulia are super-charged due to their contact with the Prophet and ahlul bayt[9] 'his spiritually charged household'.
The
charged souls have spiritual fields around them therefore Allah commands us to
keep their company Sura al-Kahf18: Verse 28

" And keep thy soul content with those who call on their Lord
morning and evening seeking His face; and let not your eyes pass beyond them.
"
The
company of the zaakirs (those constantly remembering Allah) has the
beneficial effect of transferring blessings. The magnets are enabled through a
process to generate electricity, which produces heat and light. With the
conversion of electrical energy into mechanical energy, things get transformed
and dead bodies start moving. A plastic doll for example, charged with a battery
gets into motion and starts producing many recorded sounds. The Murshid in the
spiritual world enlivens and charges the lifeless hearts and restore them to
action and activity. There fore Khwaja Muinuddin Chisti (Rahmatullahi alaihi)
received a Super Charge at the Mazaar[10]
of Hazrath Ali Hujweri (Data Saheb) after he spent forty days in this Spiritual
field. Khwaja Saheb said, and I translate in the context of this paper.
Ganje
Bakshe, faiz e aalam, Mazhare nure Khuda
Nakisara Pir kamil, kamilara rahnuma
He
awards Spiritual Charge to the world and reflects Allah's radiance
A
perfect leader for the lifeless and a Super charge for the perfectly charged
The
latest magnet is the 'Super Electro Magnet' made from special material that has
the ability to lose all electrical resistance. The coils made from this material
are treated and cooled to a temperature of minus 219 degrees centigrade. The
resistance is removed and the ability to carry heavy electrical charges is
increased and the 'Super Electro
Magnet' is created. The similar concept is utilised in purification of souls or tazkiyah.
Under careful guidance of the spiritual guide resistance to negative influences
is increased and the heat of the ego is cooled down. The ruhani or
spiritual coil is pointed to Madinah the Illuminated and charged. Sura a’la
87: Verse14

They will prosper who purify themselves
They
now have the ability to increase their spiritual flow of blessings (faiz).
The 'Super Electro Magnet' in special body scanners in hospitals are called NMR
scanners or Nuclear Magnetic Resistance scanners. They x-ray the inner organs of
the body and disclose them in picture images. As the scanner can reveal the
hidden organs behind the curtains of the body, the Awliya can reveal
inner realities.
The
Holy Prophet (sallallahu alaihi wa sallam) said:
Al-Tirmidhi
Hadith 748
Narrated by Mu'adh ibn Jabal (radiallahu anhu)
I
got up in the night and performed ablution and observed the prayer as had been
ordained for me. I dozed in my prayer and I was overcome by (sleep) and I
found myself in the presence of Allah (Almighty and Glorious is He) in the
best form. He said, "Muhammad!" and I said: 'At Thy service, my
Lord.' He said ' What do these angels at the highest level contend about? I
said: I do not know. He repeated it thrice. Then I saw Him put His Palms
between my shoulder blades till I felt the coldness of His fingers between the
two sides of my chest. Then everything was illuminated for me and I could
recognise everything…
The
Hadith continues where the Prophet said to Allah, 'I beg of Thee Thy love and
the love of one who loves Thee and the love for the deed which brings me near to
Thy love.
This
was again a Super Charge, which flowed into the Super Spiritual Magnet of the
universe.
May
Allah enlighten our youth and keep them in love with the lovers of Allah.

Tasawwuf: Tasawwuf
is the
Science of the Self. It is based upon the Teachings of the Holy Prophet
Muhammad (May the Blessings of Allah be upon him and Peace). It is known in
the West as Sufism or Islamic mysticism. Tasawwuf is the
acquisition of the noble character traits through purification of the
heart. Tasawwuf is moral courtesy (adab). The one who
aspires to Knowledge of Allah is a mutasawwif. The Purified One who
has made the Journey of Return, from his lower self to his Higher Self, is a
Sufi. The Perfect Sufi, who is unknown to others, is a (The
People of Blame. Their exteriors never disclose their perfect interiors) malamatiyya.
The Master of the Malamatiyya, the Sufis, the Mutasawwifun,
the believers and the non-believers is the Holy Prophet Muhammad (May
the Blessings of Allah be upon him and Peace). Tasawwuf is the
Science, which takes the traveller (Saalik) through the unending
degrees of "knowing" Allah. Hazrath Muhammad aI-Mustafa
(Sallallahu alaihi wa sallam) is the means (wasila) by which his
followers, lovers and slaves, may attain to Allah Almighty.
[2] Al-Faiz- Allah bestows Divine effusion or overflow or emanation to the heart of His Perfect Slave, the Perfect Man. The world itself remains in existence due to this overflowing of the lights of His Self-manifestation. The attention paid to them during their remembrance or visitation is repaid by attention from them, leading man to heightened states of spirituality.
[3] True zikr of Allah, is a spiritual state (hal) in which the remembrancer (zakir) concentrates all his physical and spiritual powers upon Allah so that his entire being may be united wit the Absolute.
[4] An interconnection or an essential binding or the establishment of a tie
[5] uns: Intimacy. Uns is a spiritual state in which the heart becomes permeated by Love and contemplates the Beauty of Allah and His Gentleness, Mercy and Forgiveness. The state of uns is ineffably sweet and indescribable. It may descend upon the listener at the "spiritual audition" (sama') causing him to fall into an ecstasy(wajd) in which he "finds" Allah. The "people of hearing" (ahl as sama') experience this intimacy (uns) because they hear only Allah, at all times and in all sounds. During the Journey the traveler may initially experience brief periods of such intimacy. But through the Grace of Allah, after much journeying and purification and after many "unveilings" and "tastings", the lover will always feel close to Allah, even when Allah keeps him at a distance!
[6] Nisian: Forgetfulness. Man who possesses the potential to actualise his function as khalifatullah forgets his servanthood. (ubudiayah) and unconsciously worships himself. See al-Qur’aan Sura at-Tauba 9 Verse 67.
[7] Dr. Keith L. Moore is a Professor of Anatomy and Cell Biology, University of Toronto, Toronto, Canada. He is a world-renowned scientist and a distinguished researcher in the fields of anatomy and embryology. He was asked to participate in a three-year study of around twenty-five verses of the Qur’aan and the Sunnah (sayings of Muhammad (sallallahu alaihi wa sallam) which speak about embryology, and to determine the their correspondence to modern scientific discoveries. He has written a book on embryology with Qur’aanic references.
[8] Silsila The Spiritual Chain of each Sufi Order descends from the Holy Prophet (sallallahu alaihi wa sallam) down to the present Spiritual Guide.
[9] Ahl’l Bayt- The people of the Household of the Holy Prophet (sallallahu alaihi wa sallam) i.e. Hazrath Ali, Hzrath Fatimah, Hazrath Hassan and Hazrath Hussain (radiallahu anhu ajmain). The word Ahl also refers to those nearest to him, his spiritual family descending through the various spiritual chains (silsilas).
[10] The grave of a Saint.
